The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) East Jaintia Hills District district Unit will hold a sit-in demonstration at Khliehriat East Jaiñtia Hills on September 25 to protest against the apathy of the government and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to repair the dilapidated condition of the NH-6.

In a statement issued here, the union stated that the agitation will start from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The KSU took the second step of agitation asserting that NHAI and the state government neither responded to the demand nor showed any sign of seriousness towards the issue.

It may be mentioned that the first agitation was held in the last month August 8, 2023 following which the Manager Technical of NHAI had given the assurance to the union and that the Authority will repair the NH-6 in the area of district within 6 weeks, but till date no action has been taken from the NHAI nor Government.

The union stated that ambulances, central forces and other emergency vehicles will ply as usual.
