IndiGo to expand air services in Assam following discussion with Assam CM

IndiGo is set to significantly expand air services in Assam following a meeting between its top executives and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The new flight plans come after Sarma pushed for stronger air connectivity across the state, especially to underserved locations.
The meeting, held on May 22 at the Chief Minister’s official residence in New Delhi, also included senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. During the discussion, Sarma requested enhanced air links to key cities including Silchar, Dibrugarh, and North Lakhimpur.
Responding positively, IndiGo announced several major service upgrades:
A new non-stop Delhi–Jorhat flight, starting mid-September 2025.
A new Guwahati–Navi Mumbai route, is scheduled to begin winter 2025–26.
The Delhi–Dibrugarh flight will now include a stopover in Guwahati, offering morning connectivity between the state’s two capitals.
Plans to introduce a morning Guwahati–Silchar flight, addressing long-standing passenger demand.
Evaluation of scheduled operations from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur.
Chief Minister Sarma later shared the updates on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a “significant step forward” in improving air connectivity for Assam. He expressed appreciation for IndiGo’s swift response and welcomed its commitment to enhancing service in the region.
