Govt launches special drive to identify weakest, vulnerable sections of society
The state government has launched a special drive to identify the weakest and vulnerable sections of society.
These include street dwellers, rag pickers, hawkers, migrant labourers, homeless, commercial sex workers, persons with disabilities.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo said the special drive will be carried out by the office of the DC (Supply) in coordination with concerned departments and in consultation with the local headmen.
She said recommendation for inclusion under NFSA will be after proper verification as per the SOPs, (Exclusion parameter for PHH category and inclusion parameter for AAY category), issued by the Directorate of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs on October 19, 2020.
During such identification and verification, submission of Aadhaar or EPIC of the applicant is mandatory, the DC added.
