Future-focused and fierce: RGU’s fashion students drop a lookbook that blends heritage with heat

The Royal School of Fashion Design and Technology (RSFT) at Assam Royal Global University just turned up the heat on the fashion scene with the launch of its first-ever lookbook, The Threads of Tomorrow.
Unveiled on campus this Wednesday, the bold debut was led by acclaimed designer and textile revivalist Arita Kashyap, who praised the students’ work as “a seamless fusion of tradition, modern flair, and sustainable values.”
“This isn’t just fashion—it’s a movement,” Kashyap said. “Each piece reflects the students’ ability to elevate simple concepts into runway-ready statements that honour India’s textile roots while pushing the envelope of contemporary design.”
The launch drew an enthusiastic crowd, with RGU’s Executive VP Ankur Pansari and Associate Dean Angira Mimani in attendance, along with faculty, students, and other dignitaries. Mimani called the lookbook “a creative landmark,” adding that it underscores RGU’s mission to shape tomorrow’s fashion leaders with purpose and innovation.

Akriti Mazumdar, Assistant Professor at RSFT, revealed that the lookbook showcases 45 standout ensembles from the graduating batch, backed by 32 striking designs from 4th and 6th-semester students. “These aren’t just final collections—they’re a testament to the grit, originality, and vision of our students,” she said.
RSFT’s fashion program is known for its cutting-edge facilities and hands-on approach to education. With design studios, digital labs, and a deep dive into textiles, illustration, and construction, students aren’t just learning fashion—they’re redefining it.
With The Threads of Tomorrow, RGU isn’t just making a fashion statement—it’s claiming a seat at the global design table.
