Celebrating academic excellence and the spirit of consistent effort, The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) awarded Monthly Scholarships to 129 students on Wednesday for topping their respective semesters in the Odd Semester Examination 2024–25.

Each recipient was granted a monthly scholarship of Rs 3,000 in recognition of their performance. Additionally, 13 of these high-achieving students received Certificates of Merit, having already qualified for other prestigious scholarships offered by the university.

Gracing the ceremony as chief guest, Lt. Col. Rajkumar Banerjit Singh, Commanding Officer of Company 1, Assam Battalion, NCC, delivered a message that resonated beyond academics. “Success is not a destination; sustaining it demands discipline and dedication,” he told the students. Emphasizing the role of lifelong training, Lt. Col. Singh added, “Whether in the military or in daily life, training builds character. It’s what turns good students into great individuals.”

He urged students to look beyond just academic achievement and focus on developing life skills, compassion, and responsibility — qualities essential for true success.

Also addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Alak Kumar Buragohain, Chairperson,  Academics at RGU, said, “We’ve institutionalized this Monthly Scholarship to recognize and encourage consistent academic performance. But RGU’s vision is broader—we want students to thrive in academics and co-curricular pursuits alike.”

He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence, adding that such scholarships are part of RGU’s long-term effort to motivate students to stay focused and give their best throughout their academic journey.

The event was attended by senior university officials, including Registrar Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Singh, deans, faculty members, and students from various departments — all gathered to applaud the hard work and dedication of RGU’s rising stars.
