BSF Meghalaya seizes contraband worth Rs 37 lakh

In a swift, intelligence-based operation on June 12, the Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle contraband items near the Indo-Bangladesh international border.
Acting on specific tip-offs, alert troops of the 4th Battalion BSF detected suspicious activity during routine patrols in the East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts. A search operation was immediately launched, leading to the interception of a vehicle carrying contraband goods valued at over Rs 37 lakh. Two persons were apprehended on the spot, both of whom failed to produce valid documents for the items in their possession.
The seized goods and the apprehended persons have been handed over to local police for further investigation and legal action.
BSF Meghalaya reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the international border and preventing all forms of illegal activities to ensure national security and integrity.
