Ardent demands action against education minister for hate speech

Opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit on Thursday demanded action against education minister Rakkam A Sangma for allegedly indulging in hate speech against the party. 

Before raising a short duration discussion on teachers appointed in Dadenggre Sub-Division, Basaiawmoit accused the minister of wanting to see bloodshed between Garos and Khasis by indulging in hate speech and allegations agains the party. 

“I would request the chief minister (throught the Speaker) to kindly take this as a subject to be dealt in this sitting,” he said.

“If I were communal as him I would  not have chosen to associate myself with garo people since late 1980s,” he added. 

Stating that an FIR has been filed against the minister, Basaiawmoit said, “I hope government will not prevent the concerned authority to initiate action aganst the concerned minister.”
