The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) announced on Wednesday that 92 students from its B.Ed department have successfully qualified for the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) 2025, a major gateway for teaching careers in government and aided schools across the state.

This achievement marks a milestone for USTM’s Prof Qomrul Hoque School of Education, reflecting both the academic rigour and the university’s focused commitment to producing qualified, classroom-ready educators. The MTET qualification is not only a professional benchmark but also a critical step toward addressing the region’s growing need for quality teachers.

Expressing his pride, USTM Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma said, “This achievement reflects our consistent efforts to provide quality teacher education and create an environment that supports the all-round development of our students. I congratulate every successful candidate and encourage them to serve society with sincerity and dedication.”

Faculty members and mentors at the School of Education attributed the success to a structured support system that included regular training sessions, intensive mock tests, one-on-one mentorship, and personalized academic guidance. The program, they noted, has been designed to simulate real exam conditions while also building long-term teaching competencies.

Many of the 92 qualifiers come from diverse backgrounds and are now eligible to apply for teaching positions across Meghalaya—a development that aligns with the state’s broader goals of improving educational access and quality.

As these aspiring educators prepare to enter classrooms across the state, USTM reaffirms its mission to not just impart degrees, but to shape leaders and changemakers in education. The university’s continued success in national and state-level teacher qualification exams reinforces its status as a premier institution for teacher training in the Northeast.

With this latest result, USTM sends a clear message: it’s not just producing graduates—it’s preparing the next generation of educators who are ready to teach, lead, and make a difference.
