25-year-old woman dies in accident on NH-06 near Shangbangla Village

A 25-year-old woman lost her life after the vehicle she was travelling in collided with a stationary truck while attempting to overtake another vehicle on National Highway 06 near Shangbangla village in Ri Bhoi District, around 4 AM on Wednesday morning.
According to police, a Hyundai Alcazar (7-seater), bearing registration number AS01 EV 9578 and driven by Md. Ismail Hoque Choudhury (33) of Haripur, Assam, was travelling from Shillong towards Guwahati when it attempted to overtake another vehicle. During the manoeuvre, the Alcazar collided with an unidentified truck that was parked on the side of the road.
The vehicle was carrying five occupants: Anayatul Watus (39) a resident of Guwahati, Gayatri Borah (25) from Mangaldai, Pragya Dihingia (29) from Sonari, Charaideo, Meriganka Borah (26) from Golaghat, and Namrita Borah (25) from Bachapathar, Kamargaon, Golaghat.
The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle. One of the passengers, Namrita Borah, who was seated near the left middle door, sustained a grievous head injury. She was rushed to Nongpoh Civil Hospital in a public vehicle but was declared brought dead on arrival.
Police further stated that the vehicle involved in the accident was moved to Guwahati, Assam, before the police could reach the scene. An investigation is underway.
